KNOCKED-OUT TOOTH (AVULSED TOOTH)

A knocked-out tooth requires immediate attention. If the tooth is a permanent tooth, act quickly to save it. Try to place the tooth back in its socket or keep it moist (in a cup of milk or saliva) while heading to the dentist.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

  • Act quickly: The sooner you see a dentist, the better the chances of saving the tooth.

  • Hold the tooth by the crown (top part), not the root, and rinse it gently with water if it’s dirty.

  • Place the tooth back into the socket if possible, or keep it in a cup of milk or saliva.

  • Call your dentist immediately for instructions on how to proceed.
